I need help convincing my parents of a college course!?

I really want to do a media studies course next year in college. But my parents think due to the economic downturn (I live in Ireland btw, so recession has really screwed us over job wise) that there is no future in this course for me. They are outright refusing to let me do it. Whenever anyone asks what I want to do, if I say media studies in Maynooth my parents chime in with "he hasn't really made up his mind yet." Does anyone have any facts or any advice that might help me convince my parents. I really think Radio might be my calling.
