Help finding an IT job with a college degree?

I graduated two years ago with major in IT and minor in Management Information Systems. It seems very difficult finding a job with no direct work experience, since I haven't. I am interested in the fields of networking and databases. Currently I am about take my Network+ exam, then hopefully Cisco (CCNA) after that. I would really like to find a job soon but I figured if I can't, I might as well advance my knowledge and credentials while I am waiting.... Does anyone have any recommendations on finding an entry level job?? Do you think certs will help me??? Any others that you recommend??

3 final choices: Rebel XT, Nikon D40, Nikon D50?

For around $600, I can get either 3. XT is an obvious choice but I STILL seem to gravitate towards Nikon, however it has only 6.1 compared to the 8 of the Canon. Will I see a big difference in the two? I want SOLID camera I can grow with and that means lenses I might buy. Don't care about bells and whistles but a solid camera with manual controls to take the pics and experiment with. What's the best long-term camera? The D40, I hear might be less flexible than the D50 but is the D50 obsolete? What about the D40? Solid camera? XT? I'm concerned it's a flimsy peice of plastic with excellent componants. I'd prefer a more solid frame.. Suggestions?

How should I act to my step sister when she treats me like this?

Okay me and my step sister, havent really been getting along. We are 2 years apart and she acts like a total *****! I just like to know why so many women fawn over famous ppl.Sometimes I just think these actors or whatever are just normal ppl yet in fantastical jobs. Yet the allure to these ppl seem Immense. Take for example formula one boss Bernie Ecclestone not content with an ex model as a wife is "dating" a young 30 something pr girl. Why do people criticize my ability to take care of my child but they cant take care of their own?

my inlaws sat there and told my husband we are bad parents becuz we couldnt cal of one day when our babysiter flaked on us because he couldnt take time of cause the holidays and i had no sick time cuz i caled of when they made my baby sick overfeeding her! so we r bad parents but what pisses me off the most is that his sister and parents said that yet his sister cant take care of her kids! they r dirty clothed in public not showered properly sick constantly. i love my niece and nephew but dread them being aroiund the baby cause i dun want her to get sick. then last sun we go to the park and we were yeled at for not having the baby bundled enough yet sge was double layered and had winter coat on and hat and everything and we were yelled at but his sis kids were both coughing and neither didnt have a coat at all she said she gave them medicine already so they were fine! why the hel r we bein yelled and criticized when clearly i know how to take care my kid it might be my first and shes only 6 months old but get some common sense! sorry have to vent im so fed up with them!

Dripping on ceiling from roof?

Woke up this morning to hear dripping noise coming from ceiling. Walked around housing to investigate and heard the dripping hitting the ceiling above staircase (it is a void space above this). Went up into loft and couldn't see any water running. Then a damp patch formed on the ceiling. Cut open plasterboard to see water dripping down through a hole from ceiling above (i.e. ceiling above void space). Went back into loft, and noticed that where the hole is in ceiling, is right next to the chimney stack/brest. Could water be running down from chimney? How would this be repaired to stop water dripping?

i have this friend... and she copies everything about me, i speak in a well spoken sort of voice, when i first met her she had a really common sounding voice and now it's exactly like mine. When I run windows media player I cant get into the playback controls e.g. equalizer,wow controls etc. I was able to do this with no problems on my old compy, and I can do it on my laptop too. Not everyone is fat for starters. As for why so much of the western population is fat(I moved from America to Canada and can safely say there's alot of fat people up here as well) is our diet. In France you are more likely to take the time to prepare meals, while western culture is mainly invested in "meals on the go". Wine and cigarettes in moderation as well have had studies proving the benefits to weight(though your lungs and livers may not be the healthiest in the end).

A lot of people don't really get Mary Shelley's book. The basic idea is that only God can create life. If man tries to do it, it will decay and become horrible. When the monster is first created, he is beautiful, or at least normal looking. But because his life has been created unnaturally, he starts to physically and then mentally decay. He doesn't have a soul. You really need to read the book (it isn't very long) or at least cliffs or sparknotes before you start writing about Boris Karloff. I think it sounds like you felt more shy and less at ease around this girl than around her friends and yes, I think it is possible she felt a bit rejected by this. This is not anyone's fault. I felt very much like this with someone when I was a teenager and I really wanted to reach out to her but the more I thought about it the harder it became to behave naturally around her and the more the gap grew. From her perspective she may feel you feel negative about her and she has become more distant. I do not think you should make a big deal about this but see if you can work into a conversation with a group of you that sometimes you get shy for no reason and it bugs you. Or say to a mutual friend that you really like this girl but you get a bit shy round her and you think it has caused a problem - this may cause her to warm a bit to you as you would be making it clear your reticence is about you and not her?

I want my OB to be cool with whatever I want to do but I also want him to be at least a little concerned if/when I bring a problem to the table. If at all possible, a change in OBs (even though the timing sucks with you being so close) might be the best solution. Or, you could be a real pain in the and demand some resolutions before leaving your next appt. Are you able to keep any liquids down? How do you feel about requesting to be induced so you can get baby out before his/her wellbeing is affected by your difficulty with keeping food down? Not only would they get what they want, they wouldn't be infringing on the beliefs of everyone else. In a perfect world, federal and state governments would be libertarian. This would leave all of the social decisions up to the town, city, or county politicians. My son is 10 weeks old and he was feed for the first 4 weeks then I gave him Aptimil 1 after a week or so I gave him Apitimil 2 Extra Hungry because I thought he was wanting more. Not a psychologist myself but it sounds as if you are simply overall dissatisfied with both lifestyles. I'm gonna be completely honest with you, though we don't always have the best of conversations, but when we do, we have prettyyyy awesome conversations and that for you is on the plus side! Getting my puppy`s attention in all situations?

I have a 3 month old puppy. Last week, I looked up several instructional videos online, and was able to teach him to sit, come, and lie down. He will do these behaviors on cue 90% of the time. However, if he is distracted, such as when he is in a new environment or when company comes over, he will not obey the cues. I am mostly concerned about the come command, as I will often need to use it for his own safety. How can I make him learn to come EVERY time, and keep focused on that? One idea I had is to use an extra tasty treat, like cheese, and do several repetitions of it every day (I used kibble to train him). Does anyone have any advice to spare on this issue? Cheers!

Married filing separate?

Over the past 4 years of our marriage, my husband and I have submitted our taxes as "married filing jointly". Each year our return has been smaller and smaller. This year we owe $364 if we file jointly. Whereas if we file separately I can expect a $2000 return and my husband a $800 return. Anyway, I asked our HR lady today why this keeps happening and she pointed out on my pay stub that I am claiming 1. I had no idea, but I suppose this must have been from our first year of marriage when my husband was not yet allowed to work in the US and I just never made the change. So essentially we've been losing a lot of money because of this and I'm miffed. So my question is, if we've filed jointly for the last few years, can we file separate? Is that an option? My boyfriend whom I love and adore is very smart, no brilliant. He has always inspired me to be better and smarter and I love him for his ability to articulate what he thinks and feels. But I notice that, majority of our conversations are not only dominated by him but they are usually "heavy" in topic. It's draining, because he gets so intense in these convos and usually I may get 5 minutes of talk out of a 2 hour+ long conversation. I don't think he notices it, but I don't want to offend him by telling him basically to shut the hell up sometimes and lighten up. Unlike some posters I know firsthand the evils of socialism because I bothered to learn about it. After I finished high school while many of my friends went on to college and some joined the Army, I got a job, and moved out of my parents' house. On weekends I would drive a few miles down the road to my local library and check out a lot of books, particularly ones that opened my eyes to the evils of socialism. It was in that library that I discovered what an atrocity this system is and why we need to oppose it in any form. I recommend reading anything by William F. Buckley, Jr., Russell Kirk, Pat Buchanan, Ann Coutler, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and several others. You don't need to plunk down 50 K per year to learn that socialism is evil, just go down to your public library and find out for free.

Profanity in a young adult novel: How much is too much?

I am a first-time novelist writing a novel kind of geared towards older teens, but that I'm sure adults would enjoy too... my point is it's not really for 12-13 year olds. The main character, who is the first-person narrator of the story, swears a lot and I am wondering if it is innapropriate. She is 16 years old, has ADHD and probably a learning disabillity as well, gets frustrated easily and is kind of inarticulate (although she's actually pretty intelligent). She's also a little rebellious. The other characters usually don't use foul language more than once in a while. So I'm wondering, is this OK?

Growing Prickly pear Cactus in a container?

I have one growing in a container on my patio right now. It will spread to consume the entire container, but I don't advise allowing it to do so. It will become root bound and once it spreads to the edges of the container, it will be nasty and next to impossible to re-pot without breaking the pot to do so. You can let it get almost to the edges, however and that will take a couple of years. Yes, if you live in a climate or zone where you have hard freezes, snow or temperatures that get below freezing, I would take it in. They can suffer damage in cold temperatures, though I have seen them grow in the desert where they get snow, I also had mine get damaged when we had a hard freeze 2 years ago and lost some of the plant as a result.

My father, wont to random fits of extreme anger of trivial things?

My father, a 53 year old male, is prone to fits of random anger over disgustingly insignificant occurrences on a daily basis. Though it is conventionally chalked up to a short temper which he, evidentially, does have, my mother and I have suspicions that it may be attributed to something more, due to the "fits" utter violence and spontaneous nature. He has a "meltdown", as we've dubbed it, on a daily basis, over the most mind-blowing trivial things you can think of. No scotch tape in the cupboard where he left it, he knocked over an empty soda can that someone left on the counter, a pair of scissors was missing from the drawer. A variation of bi-polar disorder has popped into our heads several times- almost anything can set him off at any given time, regardless of how he he was acting prior. His disposition has always been like this, for as long as I can remember ( though, I am only 15, as is evident by my lack of spelling skill. Sorry.) and long before my time, as my sisters ( 25 and 31 years of age) have indicated to me. They don't come home to visit as often as they would, due to his presence. He often proves controlling, a bit bigoted, stuborn, condesending and can do absolutely no wrong in his own mind. He leaves an empty water bottle on a hazardous place on the counter and knocks it over, and the fault is still my own or that of my mother's. He is most often angry and when one of his “fits” begins, he is usually in a foul disposition for the rest of the day, stomping about, yelling, swearing, banging things, acting quite violent, etc. It's not as if his job is exceedingly stressfull, nor are other aspects of his life- He works under his own rules and own "buisness" as a carpenter of sorts, he has consistant, flexable work, gets payed good amounts. My parents have and are not in danger of ever being under financiale stress, both my sisters are full grown and successfull, i'm not an over bearing burden to carry. Yet, he is wont to behave aggresively, going on for hours and hours on end because he could not find a fork in the cupboard and blowing up on any and every random occasion. I have had friends and neighboors scared off by his outbursts before, due to their EXTREAM intensity and the violent manner in which he bheaves. ( he does have blood pressure pills and has almost dropped dead right in front of us during a "fit" before, or so it seemed at the time. We were sure that he had sent himself into a heart attack, but he merely hypervinilated for some time.) He, as aforementioned, becomes ridicolously, violently angry over the smallest things, and, though I am not a considerably impresionable young person, nor am I totally un-callosued to the behavoir, it really does prove unnerving. I have beocome so unbelievably sick of having to listen to this on a daily basis, and am under the constant impression that if I so much as breath the wrong way, he will be set off. A sense of resentment has already, obviously, grown between us, and I do not entirely want to end up with the relationship -or lack there or- that he and my sisters share. What condition(s) may these behaviors be attributed to?

I have a friend who is a pharmacist and he says they always double count the pills...with some people they may be tempted to still some pills when they double count...I bet you he may have been taking some and when he said he double counted the pills...someone else was proving his numbers to be wrong and so they fired his druggie . Apartment troubles. What should we do?

We have been having this problem for quite a while now. We live in an apartment complex. Its called Bonnie Ridge and every building has six apartments. There are three floors and we are on the 1st floor. Sometimes our toilet has problems and starts spouting out water. When we call the maintenance they always found stuff jammed in there that we never threw. Problem is, they don't believe us. Their mindset is if it came out of our toilet it must be our stuff. Now it's gotten worse. Today the toilet got blocked again and there was water all over the floor. The plumber found tampons, lipstick, and what looks like baby toys. He says they will charge us. They don't believe its not us. We do suspect the people upstairs. They have a 3 year old daughter who might have thrown in the baby toys and lipstick. My mom doesn't use tampons so thats not ours either. Just on a sidenote, the people upstairs are wacko. I mean like they yell and scream at each other and run around the apartment in the middle of the night. But that's not the point. What do you think we should do? It's clearly not our fault we should not be charged for something we haven't done. Please help.

I have saved and engine like this just not that engine..I poured in a quart of trans fluid let it idle in the driveway for about ten minutes pulled the drain plug replace the filter poured in cheap oil new filter and another quart of trans fluid ran again for ten minutes pulled the plug replaced the filter with a fram tough guard (the silver box) oil filter and mobil clean 5000 which is a high detergent oil. thats what i use every oil change and you will notice after about two or three changes at 3k miles it gets to be cleaner oil every time you change it.

Has anyone experienced this during early pregnancy?..?

My fiance and I have been TTC for about a year now. My last period was Nov. 23 and my period has always been about a week off, for example, my period comes about a week late. I expected I was ovulating on Dec. 20th because of EWCM. We BD'd on the 20-25. We also read about people successfully concieving when using real eggwhites as lubricant to increase the chances of getting pregnant. Apparently it mimics the affects of EWCM and makes a better enviornment. After BD I sat with my hips up for about 20 min. On January 7th I had light spotting, only when I went to the bathroom. It was light pink and very watery. The next day it got a little heavier and then ended up becoming like a normal period. This bleeding only lasted about two days, and overnight I had a tampon in and the next morning, there was nothing on it at all. Later that day, it started back up. The bleeding continued to be this way, ( come and go throughout the day ) for around two more days and then stopped completely. Usually I have a fairly heavy period, to where I need to change a tampon every 2.5 to 3 hours. The bleeding stopped a few days ago, however, I still have the same symptoms that made me expect pregnancy in the first place. I still have sore , more frequent urination, and have had mild cramping and gas all day. I have had headaches the past few days, and I dont usually get them. I have been overly emotional and moody, and exhausted no matter how much sleep I get. I have had random hits of nausea throughout the day over the last few weeks. I know that we have been TTC for a while, so my hopes could be high! But I was just wondering if anyone experienced any bleeding like this in early pregnancy? Sleep trouble...not able to wake up from dreams...?

Ive found myself waking up physically from dreams about work latley and not being able to mentally get out of the dream state.... I work at a courthouse, so my job is pretty stressfull and I hear a lot of really crazy stuff. For instance, I'll be sleeping away and all of a sudden, get up out of bed, dreaming that I need to go pull a file or get something, or that Im in court and the judge has directed me to do something...I cant wake up out of the dream, even though I totally know that Im dreaming...its so weird. I get so confused on where I am and what is going on...my husband often has to comfort me because Im freaking out in my sleep- sweating, crying, breathing hard...Is this a sleep anxiety attack or just a night mare? Im trying to decide what I need to do about this so that I can enjoy sleeping again :) Oh and I love my job, so I really need to learn how to cope with this! Thanks!

Hah! It's weird that you ask that question tonight. I was thinking about you telling me this story when the credits were rolling onto the screen because I was pondering about what it would be like to be an extra in movies. There was a huge boat built around where I live for the new Narnia movie. I am bewildered as to why they would pick here out of all places because it's just such an odd choice... Maybe it was affordable? When I heard they were filming here I was kind of ike 'O_o huh?' The last I saw was the frame being built and I hadn't seen the finished product. Comics Fans! Which screen versions of comic book characters would you like to see in a movie together?

Freddy and Jason, the Aliens and the Predators. Clic match ups. Seeing how these icons manage share screen time together and make an exciting movie, I think its p time for certain other comic book characters to do a movie together. From Marvel, it would be nice to see the X-Men and Spider Man in a movie together. From DC, it would be nice to see Superman and Batman in a movie and call it, oh, I don't know World's Finest (hint, hint). Better yet Marvel could do a series of movies showing such team-ups and call it Marvel Comics Presents. DC could do a series similar and call it The Brave and The Bold. Hilly Land in East Texas?

The irs claims i was paid 10k from a group settlement now i have to call the company that reported it HELP!!!?

I just recieved a notice from the IRS claiming that i was paid 10,000 from a lawsuit against guitar center whom i worked for in 2005 (this was on my 2006 year) but i never recieved any payment and heard very little about the lawsuit now i have to call rust consulting out of minneapolis who handled the settlement and also reported the claims. the irs wants $915 or proof that this is a clerical error from the company. so now its 2008 am i still entitled to this money since it was reported to the irs? if this company trys to dodge me do i have any defense against it can i tell the irs they wont cooperate? will the irs have my back if they wont? will my bank records from 2006-2008 be sufficient proof i never got this money? if they dont pay me am i still on the hook for the taxes owed on it. ive heard rust consulting can be nasty to deal with i just want the cash or to nothave to pay taxes on it if i dont get it but if they reportedit are they obligated to pay me now that im being audited
